Datacentre Relocations

To date Comtec have executed several large datacentre relocations, some of these relocations have been for ISP's and managed service providers who have very high SLA's to meet. When relocating a datacentre for clients such as ISP's you are not only relocating for them but you are also relocating for their customers.

Each datacentre relocation that Comtec takes on has to be fully project managed by one of our specific relocation project managers, each project will have a full worksheet drawn up detailing the exact work to be carried out on each relocation. These work sheets are the result of several meetings with the client prior to carrying out the project. The meetings are there to ascertain :

• Downtime per server
• Rack configuration (showing which server sits in what U position in which rack)
• Floor plans (showing where the racks are to be situated)
• Cabling plans - we offer a full re-cabling service eleviating additional draw on your own resources
• Powering on and pinging servers
• Software migration
•  Equipment to be moved (it is important that we see the equipment that is to be relocated before the move in order to ascertain which of our specialist IT Relocation equipment is to be used)

Office Relocation

Many companies regularly use our full company relocation package as an alternative to moving their IT equipment themselves. By employing Comtec to relocate your IT equipment, you take away the risk of moving your own IT infrastructure. Comtec can offer fully project managed office relocation services and now with the help of our sister company (Able Removals) we can offer not only an IT Relocation package but a full office move package including desks etc.

Comtec will devise a full plan for your office move including:

• Tagging all equipment to show its position in the new office
• Drawing up floor/desk plans for the new office
• De/re-installing all equipment
• Creating a test login for all pc's so that our engineers can network test them once they have been re-installed
• A project manager to offer you one point of contact

Comtec also have a very large green ethos which is demonstrated through not only our own datacentres but our offices as well and because of this we offer to re-house any old equipment through our 'schools and charities' re-housing project. This means that no IT equipment will be disposed of in an non-environmental way (we are WEEE authorised) and no desks or office equipment will end up on a landfill site.
