What’s causing the energy crisis in Europe?

In energy terms, Europe is preparing itself for a winter of deep uncertainty. This unsettling scenario is as a result of major current geopolitical events, a rebound from the economic slowdown created by COVID-19, and the long-term decision of many European countries to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, while slowly transitioning to renewable energy sources.
