It is with great sadness that we share the news that our CTO, Antony “Tony” Eason, died suddenly this week. This has been a bitter blow for all at Comtec and no doubt the many hundreds of colleagues and friends Tony has worked with, for and alongside during a highly varied and successful career in IT.

Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time, and this statement has been released with their kind permission.

Over the many years of working as a contractor with us and then joining Comtec 6 months ago as our CTO, Tony made a great impression with customers and staff. Highly intelligent, knowledgeable and in great demand from many quarters including the UK Government Department for Education (where he advised on technology content) and countless schools districts on both sides of the Atlantic (for his world-leading insights on Microsoft deployments), Tony was well liked and deeply respected.

Many will have been unaware of Tony’s battle with cancer in the past few years, which he bore with trademark fortitude, positivity and good humour. Having relocated to his native UK in more recent times, Tony was, right up to the time of his death, instrumental in developing a new technology strategy for the Comtec business as well as taking the lead on expansion opportunities into new regions. Following the sudden loss of this gentle giant of a man, all at Comtec are committed to continuing his work and endeavouring to realise the plans he worked on, in his memory.

Our projects and services for customers will continue as normal, but today we are grieving for a cherished friend and colleague. Thank you for your messages of kindness and support, which we will pass onto Tony’s family.
